Furniture Care Guide
At Storiva, we want your furniture to remain comfortable, attractive, and functional for years to come. Proper care and regular maintenance can help protect your furniture from everyday wear and keep it looking its best.
General Furniture Care

Follow the assembly and care instructions provided with your product.

Clean spills as soon as possible to help prevent staining or permanent damage.

Avoid placing furniture in areas with excessive moisture, heat, or direct sunlight.

Use appropriate cleaning products for the specific material and finish.

Do not use harsh chemicals, bleach, abrasive cleaners, or rough cleaning tools unless specifically recommended for the product.

Avoid dragging heavy furniture across floors. Lift or use appropriate furniture-moving equipment when repositioning items.

Periodically check screws, bolts, legs, and other hardware and tighten them when necessary.
Sofas, Sectionals & Fabric Furniture
Regular vacuuming can help remove dust, crumbs, pet hair, and other debris from upholstered furniture.
For small spills:

Blot the affected area gently with a clean, dry cloth.

Avoid rubbing, as rubbing may push the liquid deeper into the fabric.

If additional cleaning is needed, use a mild cleaning solution appropriate for the upholstery material.

Test any cleaning solution on a small, hidden area before applying it to a visible surface.

Allow the area to dry completely before using the furniture.
Keep sharp objects, rough materials, and items that may snag the fabric away from upholstered furniture.
Leather or Faux Leather Furniture
Wipe the surface regularly with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth to remove dust and surface dirt.
Avoid excessive water, strong detergents, alcohol-based cleaners, bleach, and abrasive materials. Keep leather or faux leather furniture away from prolonged direct sunlight and excessive heat, which may cause fading, drying, cracking, or other surface changes.
Wood Furniture
Dust wooden surfaces regularly with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth. Wipe spills promptly and avoid allowing water to remain on the surface.
Do not place hot cookware, wet containers, or very cold items directly on wooden furniture. Use coasters, placemats, or protective pads when appropriate.
Natural wood and wood finishes may show variations in grain, color, and texture. These characteristics are normal and may contribute to the unique appearance of each piece.
Tables & Dining Furniture
Use coasters, placemats, and table protection when appropriate to help prevent scratches, stains, moisture marks, and heat damage.
Clean surfaces with a soft cloth and a suitable cleaner for the material. Avoid standing or sitting on tables unless the product is specifically designed for that purpose.
Beds & Bed Frames
Regularly check the bed frame, legs, support components, and fasteners to make sure they remain secure.
Do not exceed the product's stated weight capacity. Avoid jumping on the bed or using the frame in ways that are not intended by the manufacturer.
For upholstered headboards and fabric surfaces, use gentle vacuuming and spot-cleaning methods suitable for the upholstery material.
Mattresses & Box Springs
Use the mattress according to the manufacturer's care instructions. Keep the mattress properly supported by a compatible bed frame or foundation.
Protect the mattress from excessive moisture and spills. A suitable mattress protector may help reduce stains and everyday wear.
Do not fold, bend, or handle a mattress in a way that conflicts with the product's specific instructions.
Cushions & Removable Covers
If your furniture includes removable cushions or covers, follow the care label and product-specific cleaning instructions before washing or treating them.
Allow cushions and covers to dry completely before placing them back on the furniture.
Regularly rotating or repositioning cushions, when appropriate for the product, can help distribute everyday use more evenly.
Protecting Your Furniture
To help extend the life of your furniture:

Keep furniture away from prolonged direct sunlight.

Maintain a reasonably dry and well-ventilated indoor environment.

Avoid placing furniture directly against heating equipment.

Keep pets' claws trimmed to reduce the risk of scratches or fabric damage.

Use furniture protectors or pads where appropriate.

Avoid placing excessive weight on shelves, tables, chairs, or storage components.

Keep children from climbing or playing on furniture that is not designed for such use.
Assembly & Safety
Always follow the assembly instructions supplied with your furniture. Make sure all components and fasteners are properly installed before using the product.
For large furniture, proper assembly and positioning are especially important. If a product includes anti-tip hardware or other safety components, install and use them according to the provided instructions.
Cleaning Products
Before using any cleaning product, check the product's care instructions and test the cleaner on a small, inconspicuous area.
Avoid using bleach, strong solvents, abrasive cleaners, or unapproved chemicals that may damage upholstery, finishes, wood, metal, or other materials.
When the manufacturer's care instructions differ from this general guide, follow the product-specific instructions.
Normal Wear & Material Variations
Furniture may naturally develop minor changes over time through regular use. Fabric texture, cushion appearance, wood grain, color, and other material characteristics may vary between products and may change gradually with use.
These changes can be a normal part of furniture ownership and do not necessarily indicate a product defect.
